Born near Treviso in Italy, where at the age of 13 she worked in a small knitting company. Later she began to design and manufacture he own small range of sweaters which her brother sold to local shops. This lead to the building of their own factory in 1965 and the opening of her first shops. This was followed by an expanding export business with 6400 outlets in almost 100 countries. The company, the largest knitwear company in the world, is still controlled by members of the Benetton family.
